McGuffey High School is reestablishing the Athletic Hall of Fame. We are beginning to accept nominations for induction in the fall of 2011. Since the Hall of Fame has been inactive for the past twenty-eight years, we are limiting the nominations at this time to the following graduation classes: 1983 through 1992. If you would like to submit names of individuals for years other than 1983 - 1992, we will accept them and hold them until we are including those years for induction. McGuffey High School Hall of Fame nomination packets are available in the high school guidance office. Beginning September 1, 2010 there will be an annual $25.00 Fitness Center membership fee for McGuffey staff and community members. There will be no charge for McGuffey students, Veterans or McGuffey graduates currently enrolled in college with proper I.D. You can purchase your annual fitness center pass at the administration building between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday if paying with cash. If paying by check, make the check out to McGuffey School District, and you can get your pass at the fitness center or the administration building. You will need to purchase your membership pass by September 1, 2010.
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) has initiated a new sports physical procedure.No student may participate in in-season practices, scrimmages and/or contests unless they have completed a Comprehensive Initial Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation (CIPPE).This evaluation will apply to the present sport and any subsequent sport during that school year.Section 5 PIAA re-certification by Parent/Guardian must be filled out for any subsequent sport during the school year.Detailed instructions are included on the various sections of the CIPPE form.
The CIPPE shall be performed no earlier than June 1st and shall be effective, regardless of when performed during a school year, until the next May 31st.The CIPPE is the only form that will be accepted by the McGuffey School District.It must be completely filled out and signed by the Parent/Guardian before the physical evaluation is performed.
All forms are available in the high school and middle school offices and on the district’s website, www.mcguffey.k12.pa.us.
In the future when physicals are being performed the schedule will be posted on the district's website, in the Observer-Reporter and on the school's phone system at 724-948-3328, choose option 1 from the telephone menu and then choose option 2. The physical evaluation may also be performed by your physician provided you complete the CIPPE form.
