Winter Update
November 3, 2020
Dear McGuffey School District Families and Community, I hope you are in good health and all is well for your family. The purpose of this letter is to communicate the updates regarding the district plan for winter weather. The District is now operating in a Hybrid Learning Model. With the ability to have remote learning, we will not have a need to have cancellations due to weather emergencies. In the event of cold or snow that would have traditionally resulted in a cancellation, we will now implement a remote learning day for all students. Remote learning days due to weather will be implemented and a district all call to students and parents will be sent. In the event of a Remote learning day due to weather, we will not have a two-hour delay. If McGuffey School District is closed due to cold weather and the Western Area Career and Technical Center is open, the district will provide transportation from the high school. If McGuffey School District is closed due to road conditions, we will not provide transportation to Western Area Career and Technical Center. Remote learning days will count as a regular day of school for students. In addition, we will provide the local media with the school closure/remote learning information as done in the past. The District will still have the ability to implement the Flexible Instruction Days in accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education approved plan. If a Flexible Instruction Day is implemented, all students and parents will be notified via the district all call system. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Amy Todd Interim Superintendent
