 Clearances current within one year of hire date will be required of the selected candidate. This includes Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Clearance (Act 114), FBI Criminal Background Check, pre-employment physical, pre-employment drug testing. Commonwealth of PA Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release (Act 168) and Mandated Reporter Training also will be required. 


Job Responsibilities: 

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions: 

  1. Performs a variety of interior and exterior custodial maintenance tasks in heavy foot-traffic areas, applying specific methods of cleaning for a school facility 

  2. Keeps facility and property in clean and orderly condition. 

  3. Performs routine maintenance activities. I.e.: changing light bulbs, filters, unclogging toilets, sinks, etc. 

  1. Lift or carry equipment, supplies or bulk materials up to 75 pounds 

  2. Snow Removal 

  3. Heavy cleaning duties to include restrooms 

  4. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuum floors. 

  5. Stripping and waxing floors. 

  1. Gathers and empties trash. 

  2. Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities. 

  3. Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment. 

  4. Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers. 

  5. Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture. 

  1. Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs. 

  2. Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures. 

  3. Manages inventory of cleaning supplies. 

  4. Drives vehicles required to perform duties 

  5. Communicates upward regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems. 

  1. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, school staff, the general public, third-party vendors, and others contacted in the course of work 

  2. Respond in a timely manner to custodial requests and routine custodial and cleaning needs 

  3. Support special events by setting up and breaking down chairs, tables, screens, and other equipment 

  4. Physical ability to operate and care for industrial equipment used for cleaning, including but not limited to motorized floor polisher, push broom, wet and dry vacuum cleaners, mop, ladder, carpet cleaning equipment 

  5. Strict adherence to workplace safety 

  1. Flexibility and ability to work in emergency situations to include inclement weather 

  2. Interest in and dedication to our school’s educational focus 

  3. Other duties as assigned 


Working Conditions: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position involves routine, repetitive operations with hands and physical skill and energy. Work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms. Work in conditions that create dirt and dust. Essential custodial maintenance may involve but is not limited to the following activities: reaching to full reach overhead; pushing; gripping with fingers; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; working in narrow or confined space; twisting at the waist, shoulders, and legs; crawling on hands and knees; lying on shoulder or back; walking; sitting; standing; climbing stairs; pushing and/or moving up to 50 lbs.; working atop a ladder or step stool. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must be able to communicate verbally and hear. The noise level in this position varies from quiet to loud.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The Custodian is a bargaining unit position with salary and benefits established by contract and Board action. 


EVALUATION: There is a 60-day probationary period at the start of employment.

Job Type: Full-time 

Pay: $14.99 per hour first year. Annual increases per collective bargaining terms thereafter. 

Benefits:                    Schedule: 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (8-hour shift)
