The crucial first step in the financial aid process is filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students and parents need to complete the FAFSA in order to apply for grants, work-study, loans, and even some scholarship opportunities. In addition, states and colleges use FAFSA information to award their own grants, scholarships, and loans.
The 2025–26 FAFSA® form will be available to all students on or before December 1, 2024.
