Welcome to the Claysville Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)  2023-2024

Did you know just by having a student here at Claysville Elementary, that you are already a member of our PTO!?

We work in partnership with our Principal, Mr. Wolfe, Assistant Principal, Ms. Maute, and all of the teachers and faculty here at Claysville Elementary School to enhance each and every student’s elementary school experience. Please consider volunteering with us!  The information below that describes some of the PTO volunteer opportunities.

With everyone’s participation, we can make this a great school year!

We Look Forward To Working With You!

Book Fair:   The Book Fair is a week-long event in September and March. We also have a BOGO Book Fair during May. Students will visit the Book Fair during their Library class and will have the opportunity to purchase books with money brought from home.   The PTO also provides one free book per student during our Fall and Spring Book Fairs. Parent volunteers are needed to assist the students with book selection, restock, and to straighten books throughout the day.

Fundraiser Deliveries and Pickup:   Parent volunteers are needed to help sort and fill orders for Sarris Candies, Seasonal Flowers and many of the other fundraisers sponsored by the PTO. Due to the size of the fundraisers and the need for some items to be kept frozen, several volunteers are needed in order to get the orders filled in a timely manner.

What we fundraise for:           Field Trips, Assemblies, Fun Day, Veterans and Teacher Appreciation Luncheons,
Educational Magazines and Programs, STEAM and Technology, Student and
Faculty T-shirts, STAR Rewards, 5th Grade Farewell, Bereavement Fund,
Playground Equipment, and much, much more!

Holiday Shoppe: This year, our Holiday Shoppe will be held December 4-8, 2023. Holiday Shoppe gives the students an opportunity to purchase their own gifts for their family members and pets.  Students will bring money from home and will visit the Holiday Shoppe during their class’s designated time. The Holiday Shoppe is a service the PTO provides for the students and is NOT a fundraiser.  Many parent volunteers are needed to help the students make their gift selection and stay within their budget, especially the younger students.

Cash Bash:   This year our Cash Bash will be on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at South Franklin Fire Hall. It is a MAJOR fundraiser which provides at least 1/3 of the amount needed to fund the school year.  This event requires MANY volunteers in order for it to be as successful and profitable as possible.  Volunteers are needed the day before for set-up.  Volunteers are needed the night of the event to help serve food, to take tickets at the door, to sell Chinese Auction tickets, pull tabs, and other special raffle tickets, and for clean-up.  In the months preceding the event, help is needed with selling the event tickets and gathering Chinese Auction items.

Fun Day:   Fun Day takes place over two days at the end of the school year and is a great way to finish out the year!  We plan many stations that the students will visit throughout the day.  Parent volunteers are needed to oversee the stations, explaining the station to each class that visits and ensuring that the station is running safely and properly.

Additional volunteer opportunities will be available throughout the year. They may include, but are not limited to, luncheons, assemblies/programs, fundraisers, and Junior Achievement Day.

To be approved to volunteer for any activity that requires interacting with students, you are required to provide three clearances (PA Background Check, PA Child Abuse, and FBI Clearances through the Department of Education) to the school office for approval. Clearance information can be found on the McGuffey School District website (www.mcguffey.k12.pa.us). Links to obtain all three clearances are on the site.
You do not need to have clearances to attend PTO meetings.

PTO meetings will be held on the third Wednesday every month with the exception of March. Meeting times this year will be 6:00 PM in the school library. Anyone wanting to attend can enter through the library doors by the upper parking lot. Children are always welcome, and we will provide snacks and entertainment for any child in attendance.
