Wellness Committee

Wellness Committee

The McGuffey School District Wellness Committee is committed to fostering a school environment that promotes the health and well-being of all students, families, and staff. In partnership with the School Board, we aim to support student wellness through a holistic approach that includes nutritious meals, comprehensive nutrition education, and opportunities for regular physical activity.

Our mission is to create a supportive framework across all schools that empowers students to develop lifelong healthy habits. By providing the necessary resources, structure, and guidance, we strive to ensure wellness is integrated into the daily educational experience and culture of our district.

The committee currently meets twice per year (with additional quarterly meetings as needed) to review and update the District Wellness Policy (Policy 246). We also monitor wellness goals and evaluate ongoing health and wellness programs throughout the district.

Wellness Policy Assessment

Wellness Committee Survey

The most recent wellness inventory was conducted during February of 2026. The current responses to this inventory as of 2/9/2026 are as follows:

Additional Narrative Feedback on Policy 246 and/or the McGuffey Wellness Committee based on the following Prompt:

"Please provide any additional narrative feedback you may have in regards to the wellness policy"

  1. I was a member of the previous wellness committee and definitely feel it's time to take a look at our implementation of this policy.  I would love to be a part of the new committee as this is an area I am passionate about.
  2. Not at this time, but making sure the policy and programs continue are important to me and our youth.
  3. I observe students who eat powdered donuts and poptarts every morning.  That equals 180 days of refined flour and sugar.  I would love to see healthier options.
  4. Would like to know more about State requirements
  5. I believe we comply with State and Federal regulations for nutritional needs but I think we need to take a hard look at whether we could do better on the Elementary level as the majority of what they are served is processed foods.
  6. I look forward to being involved in the improvements.
