Chapter 15/Section 504

Chapter 15/Section 504

ADA Logo
The McGuffey School District provides each protected handicapped student enrolled in the district the related aids, services, and/or accommodations that are needed to afford the student an equal opportunity to participate in and obtain the benefits of the school program and extracurricular activities at no cost to the student or family.  These supports are provided to the student without discrimination and to the maximum extent appropriate to the student's abilities in accordance with all state and federal regulations.

If a family believes their child has a physical, mental, or health impairment, which substantially limits or prohibits participation in or access to an aspect of the student's school program, then they may request an evaluation to be conducted by the school district.  The evaluation will determine if the child meets the criteria as a Protected Handicapped Student.  This request should be made in writing to the Supervisor of Special education.

More information about the PA Department of Education's implementation of Chapter 15 may be found here.

If you would like further information about Chapter 15, including the rights of parents/children, provision of services, screenings and evaluations, and/or procedural safeguards, please contact the Supervisor of Special Education or your buliding's principal.
