Act 71 was signed into law in Pennsylvania on June 26, 2014.  This law, which added to the PA School Code, specifically requires school entities to: (1) adopt a youth suicide awareness and prevention and (2) provide ongoing professional development in youth suicide awareness and prevention for professional educators in building serving students in grades 6-12. 

The McGuffey School District provides training to the district personnel in compliance with Act 71. The McGuffey School District's policy can be found here.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

Mission - To support those who are affected by suicide, and provide education, awareness, and understanding by collaborating with the community to prevent suicide, and reduce the stigma associated with suicide.

Provides resources to educators and other stakeholders on youth and adult suicide prevention.

Leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth.
