As we approach the start of a new school year, I find myself excited for my first year in a new role at McGuffey. I have had amazing experiences during my time as McGuffey Middle School Assistant Principal from 2018-2020 and as interim principal at Joe Walker Elementary during the 2020-2021 school year.
Now, as I begin my first school year as Director of Curriculum and Instruction, I cannot wait to continue working with the incredible staff, students, and families I have come to know over the past three years while also developing new relationships with more staff, students, and families at both Claysville Elementary and McGuffey High School.
I believe the 2021-2022 school year will bring many developments and opportunities for our McGuffey community, and I intend to work to help empower our students with the resources and opportunities to thrive in competition with their peers around the world. My hope is that I can be one piece of the puzzle in providing our students with a meaningful experience that establishes a lifelong love of learning. One of the first curricular focuses of this year will be working with district teachers to implement math language routines and instructional routines into their classrooms. These routines will help students build their capacity as learners; not just in mathematics, but across all content areas.
I am confident this 2021-2022 school year will be a great one, and I can’t wait to see what else lies ahead on the journey. To all McGuffey families, I wish you a safe and positive school year. Feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas that may help make McGuffey the best it can be.
